There are so many iPad 3 rumors about Siri on the iPad 3 lately, and with the release of iOS 5.1 beta 3 to developers it appears more evident that we could indeed see Siri on the tablet. The new beta code doesn't provide very much insight into the future of Apple devices, but 9to5mac uncovered "something potentially major."

Siri For iPad 3 is Coming

According to the well-known Mark Gurman of 9to5mac, references appeared in a new section in the keyboard menu in iOS 5.1 beta 3 called "About Privacy and Dictation". The section wasn't there before so it looks like Apple is working on bringing at least the Dictation part of Siri to its tablet.

That doesn't mean we'll see Siri for iPad in iOS 5.1 public release. However, this absolutely means that iPad 3 Siri is coming. There's a small probability Apple will port Siri on its iPad 2 as it's better for it to Siri iPad 3-exclusive. Just because the iPad 2 has the A5 chip doesn't mean iPad 3 Siri is coming. Some believe it doesn't even have enough memory to support Siri. The consensus is Siri will be available with the iPad 3, but I guess there is always hope since there has been no official word from Apple.

You might recall back to the iPhone 4S receiving Siri and Siri Dictation with the rollout of iOS 5.0, so if Apple follows a similar pattern as their mobile half, this could indeed be a reality in the very near future. Those who own the retina display iPod Touch generation, are also claiming at this time that the keyboard menu and legal screen is now appearing for them too, meaning Apple could be eyeing the technology for their iPod touch line too.

Maybe they're waiting for the iPhone 4S to launch before bringing iPad 3 Siri and other devices. They do seem to be using iPhone 4S Siri as a way to distinguish the iPhone 4S from the iPhone 4, or at least that's how some fans are painting it. A few tech bloggers and iPad owners are hoping this is the case, but I wouldn't start holding my breath.
