iPad 2 will have two cameras

"Largan Precision has declined to comment on market rumors indicating the company will be the sole lens module supplier for Apple's upcoming iPad 2 tablet with shipments to kick off in the first quarter of 2011, according to a company filing with the Taiwan Stock Exchange (TSE)."

Digitimes doesn't explain whether Largan Precision has been selected to ship a VGA front-facing iPad 2 camera, a higher resolution rear one or both. The report doesn't exactly tell whether Apple is aiming for a high resolution VGA front-facing iPad 2 camera on the iPad or not. Admittedly, a VGA front-facing iPad 2 camera on the tablet's large screen wouldn't provide an excellent picture quality.

Apple decided not to include a front-facing camera on the first generation iPad and there have been plenty of rumors floating around about the specs of the second generation iPad. But a new image of an apparent iPad version 2 case has revealed that we could possibly get a rear-facing iPad 2 camera too.

Let's start with the iPad 2 rumors. As we reported just yesterday, shipping for the next generation iPad - to be called the iPad 2 or iPad 2G - is intended to happen within 100 days from now. That is not too long to wait if you think about it, and we have just had more of an indication that the iPad version 2 will come with a rear facing iPad version 2 camera via an image for a Crystal iPad 2nd generation Case.

As you can see, there is a rather noticeable hole in the top-left hand corner of the case, where lets be honest, nothing but a iPad 2 camera could go.We have seen this on the iPhone 4 and the iPod Touch 4, so now it's time for the iPad version 2 to play catch up and also include it in their successful brand of tablets.

Does this image prove that we will infact get a rear facing iPad 2 camera for iPad version 2 though? Short answer is: No. But it is a strong indication none-the-less.With other tablets in the market giving us the option of a rear facing iPad 2 camera, do you think Apple are giving us this option as a safe bet?

Largan Precision, a Chinese lens manufacturer, which also supplies lenses for the 5 megapixel camera for the iPhone, is the rumored manufacturer of iPad 2 camera. The iPad version 2 is expected to be launched in Q1 2011. Let's wait for iPad 2 camera.
